C.I.EAU celebrates Earth Day with scientific activities and a collaborative clean-up of the Berge des Baigneurs to help preserve our wonderful blue planet.
Earth Day activity in the lab
For the weekend preceding the emblematic date, C.I.EAU revived its Plant Biodiversity activity, this time with composting pots. The activity shows how native plants on riverbanks contribute to water quality by preventing the growth of invasive species. Lasting around 30 minutes, participants learn while having fun, and leave with a pot of seeds they can let grow at home! C.I.EAU thanks Akène culture forestière for the native seeds.

The activity will also be presented on the weekend following Earth Day, Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, at 1 and 3 pm. Museum visitors will be able to take part free of charge, while the curious who come just for the activity will have to pay $5 per plantation.
On Saturday April 20, the activity was presented for the first time at the Little Scout Nation, and young people were then invited to share their commitment to the environment in order to take part in the GenerationAction program.
Clean-up of the Berge des Baigneurs
No fewer than 50 brave souls turned out alongside city councillor Flavia Novac, the Green Circle of Sainte-Rose-de-Lima parish and C.I.EAU to collect the garbage that lines the precious Berge du Vieux Sainte-Rose on the afternoon of Sunday April 21.

Starting at 12:30 pm, young and old set out with their bags and gloves to remove the litter visible near the Mille Îles River on the Berge des Baigneurs. Over 200 pounds of garbage and 16 pounds of recyclables were collected.
We would like to thank all the participants and volunteers who took part in this collaborative civic event!
